Small Christian Communties (SCCs)

Small Christian Communities (SCCs) are neighbourhood-based communities of Catholic families who come together to live, celebrate, and share their faith in a spirit of prayer, fellowship, and service. Inspired by the life of the early Christian Church, SCCs provide a space where families gather regularly to reflect on the Word of God, pray together, support one another, and respond to the needs of society through acts of love and outreach.

The SCC movement in the Archdiocese of Bombay began following the 1980 Bombay Priests’ Synod and was formally implemented in 1984 under the leadership of Bishop Bosco Penha. Since then, SCCs have grown into a vibrant network of communities across the Archdiocese, helping transform parishes into “a communion of communities” where faith is experienced not only in church buildings but also within neighbourhoods and homes.
